2.1 Azimuth Rail
The antenna leans upon the azimuth rail, which has a 18.3 m diameter and has recently (2001) been renewed. Until 2000 the rail was directly sustained by the grout basement (see fig. 2.1)

Then a more efficient solution, in terms of endurance, was proposed, and a metal plate was interposed between the rail and the grout basement.
